I first wore a kilt at the age of 14 (1950) when I inexplicably developed a life-long passion for Scottish Country and Highland Dancing - at the time I was
living on England's south coast! At the age of 62 (1998) I realised that kilts are for everyday wear, not just special occasions or costumes for dancing,
and so I began to invest in them. A year later I owned enough kilts and accessories which would enable me to attend the grandest or the most casual event - and
so I ditched the trousers once and for all. It is now (2007) eight years since I last wore trousers of any description and, with currently 78 kilts to my name,
I have no intention of wearing those wretchedly uncomfortable things ever again. My ever-growing 'Kilt Kollection' is recognised by authorities in
Scotland and, after my death, it will form the basis of a Kilt Museum in Edinburgh.
